Carbs & Sugar

Total Carbs

Every gram of carbohydrate in a food, the number PHD counts (not net carbs).

Total carbs means all the carbohydrate in a food, before subtracting fiber or sugar alcohols. The Proper Human Diet counts total carbs and aims for under 20 grams per day. Counting total rather than net carbs keeps you honest and is more reliable for staying in a fat-burning state.
